A hill, tarp, soap, and water

Last night we went to a Slip n Slide at the Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek for a YWYM activity.

So much fun! A long tarp was set down a hill, the plastic was squirted with soap and a stream of water was set down for all to slide down!  At first the edge was hard and dry so getting off the tarp was difficult. As the water seeped and created mud, the kids swooped further and further down the hill gathering the sudsy mud with them. Some would rinse off at the top and go down again. Some waited until the end to rinse off the mud. Most looked like they had a ton of fun!

After about 10 runs the ante went up - guys would slide down on two feet, some would see how far off the tarp they could go, trains forward or across would go down in big groups. There were a lot of laughs and one injury to a shoulder. Overall, a good time was had by all.

Furthest out - for a season

Balance in everything!

Daddy Daughter Date

Michael has been taking his daughters or sometimes just Makynlee on daddy daughter dates. Usually it is after dinner. They do various things. Today being a holiday he took Makynlee swimming at Andrew and Briona's pool. Because the temperature is over 100, this was an excellent choice. She is one happy kid. She is always looking forward to the next outing with her father.

Prayers Answered by Daughter-in-law

Today I went to the store with my daughter-in-law and her two children. When we got back and put away our things, I noted something missing. Looking back in my mind I decided where it was and went on with my day. When I got back two hours later, I tore apart my rooms and realized it WASN'T there.

I went downstairs and when I saw Julia, I told her about my problem and she immediately jumped up and came to help me look. She looked all over in the car and then gave my key back. I had already called the store and they had said they would be on the look-out for it, but no call had come.

Julia was not going to quit and decided to go back to the store and look in the parking lot or wherever and make sure it was found. AND SHE DID!

She drove back to the store, looked in the parking lot - over 100 degree weather - and went back into the store. The first person she asked said they had found it and put it on register three. Julia saves my day and sanity. Instead of the low gut anxiety, I am filled with peace and thankfulness of a wonderful daughter-in -law who would not quit until the item was found and brought back home.

I am thinking of what rewards I can give.......

Temple Visit with YMYW

Getting up with the sun, the Young Men and Young Women of the ward met in the church parking lot for donuts and a decision on which car to ride to the temple in. I hope the youth felt the spirit of the temple and the work they do there like I did.
