Ever since I started keeping track of certain passages to tell my kids about for Activity Days, I've noted there seems to be more verses that jump out and bid for attention than before.
"5 For because of faith and great anxiety " Wait...anxiety has always been a negative, a state of being that is not desired. But here anxiety can cause something big to happen......prophecies and revelations........all seem to come out of anxiety - with the required faith attached. Jacob 1:5
"we knew of aChrist" How did they know of Christ? Yes by prophecy and revelation, scriptures, prayer........knowledge transferred..........I'll have to ponder some more on this one. They knew about Christ or they knew Him personally?Jacob 1:6
"having first obtained mine berrand from the Lord." I'm pretty sure this was a text of a conference talk, I'll have to go look it up. Receiving an errand from the Lord. Did he go and ask? Did he get a call? Did he feel a prompting? Was it in the course of his life? Was it something on his own? How did he get his errand?
aprayed and labored with all diligence," Enos Praying is a form of work. Hard work.
Before James 1:5 Enos relates: "Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it." I wonder who he was quoting? Faith, action, prayer.......significant success story.
"And he caused that they should be btaught in all the clanguage of his fathers" Mosiah 1:2 Noted that learning is mentioned in several places in the Book of Mormon. Learning is valued, respected, sought-after, noted. Why the emphasis?
"Ye have not applied your hearts to understanding; "
Mosiah 12:27 Ah oh, action required on our part and a chastisement for not doing our part in understanding the scriptures or what He wants us to do and especially know.
After finishing the Book of Mormon the first time, I'm going through it again because the prophet emphasized the message that we need to read, pray and apply the Book of Mormon doctrines and principles. I'm gathering my to-do list.
