I have found over at the years that two or three people can move our entire family to action. Allen is always in the thick of pulling the family together or out on an adventure. Susan is the powerhouse in organization. Donald is always there to support and aid.
This year Susie in consultation with Laura and Allen found the new venue after countless calls to camps all over the Wasatch front. Laura organized the outdoor games Susie made sure there were things to do the minute family members arrived. She had a sign in table with little bags of goodies depending on age.
She had little leaves to put names on and put on a poster with a tree with a trunk and branches. Some branches filled up completely others were a little bare.
As usual she made the rustic camp look good and of course her plans included activities throughout the day.
Indoor Crafts and games
I noted early on the first day, the young cousins making survivor wristbands. Luckily for me, one of them made extra. The Store with Diana and Sharon
Sharon and Diana (my much younger siblings) introduced a "store" and told a story about a family tradition [I had no prior knowledge of this tradition] where a teenage Allen had introduced a money exchange using used mason lids to barter with. Evidently it was a great game until someone found the unused lids and used them causing dad to shut down the whole game. Evidently they 'earned' lids by good works, serving each other, and doing good deeds. At this particular camp Sharon with Diana's help had made lots of goodies [I got a melted crayons candle with wick formed in a sacrament cup] and 'sold' the goods with mason jar lids.
Games
All kinds of games - intense and just fun - were going on throughout the day and night. Donald's family can ALWAYS be counted on to have fun games to play. Allen and Marie will bring up something we have never seen before.
The beauty salon and jewelry crafts with Diana went on all day too.
No matter what type of person you are - active or sedentary, there was something to do.
Crafts
I can't remember any activity or reunion in any year without Diana and her jewelry making. |
