The Drive and sights to Wli Falls

 Drive to Wli Falls

Our caravan left the hotel in Ho, visited monkey preserve and a village that specializes in Kente cloth and finally came to the trail to Wli Falls. We went a little too far and found ourselves at the immigration check point to get into Togo.
I never take pictures of the soldiers, but here is the barricade we turned around at.

Hills/mountains of Togo - probably as close as I will get

The falls are about a quarter of a mile away. Someone said that we step into Togo on the trail to the falls, but there is no sign, just beautiful forest or jungle.

They are reported to be the tallest falls in West Africa. Since this is the end of the dry season the falls themselves are not spectacular, but we can say we were there.
Loaded up with water bottles and things to stay cool

Something tells me that this trail head has had members of the church here before

The trail wove in and over the small creek 9 times

The 'bridges' were either wooden planks, or cement planks

We didn't take advantage of all that was offered - if you look closely their are painting lessons, nature walk, a camping bar and bonfire as well as a tree planting project
We did enjoy lots of the beauty and wonders to see on our walk to and from. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Taking pictures and helping out a fallen missionary made it a little longer.

Not a stick or leaf - guide called it a bug. Looks like a praying mantis to me.

Have you ever seen a red pineapple before? Is this what they look like after they go to seed?

One of the missionaries fell and scrapped up his forehead and nose. He marched on after getting it cleaned and bandaged. He acted more embarrassed than hurt. He's a man so who knows?
It is a beautiful area, but don't let the shade fool you. It is hot.

Good hike.
