Cambodian New Year Celebration

Back on March 25, Jeffrey and I went to the Cambodian New Year Celebration. We wanted to see members of our Cambodian branch in action. They were all having a really great time in the folk dances. We were too far away to get any good photographs, but we sure enjoyed the dancing, music, and stories.

As I do not understand or speak the Khmer language, I could understand only the gist of the stories. One I know was a petition to the Goddess for blessings on the land and people. One was about village life, and one was a wife pushing aside another woman - I just couldn't figure out why. Another looked like a fashion show of many types of dress in Cambodia. Nary Rith was there and looked like she was a very young girl with a new husband. Since all of her children are married, she looks astoundingly young on stage.

The cultural hall was filled with tables and lots of food from Cambodia. Missionaries of all types were serving the food. We found Nary and said hello. We met a lot of our friends but did not stay to linger as the room was packed with people!

Nary has many grandchildren but looks as young as the moms having them
