Around the first or second Sunday after we came back from Accra, I had a chat with Sue Capson at church about the fact that they had just gotten a mission call to do Humanitarian work and that we should go out to dinner and chat. They were called to Kazakhstan by Russia. I had to go look it up on the map as I did not know where it is. It is located just below Russia and next to Mongolia.
We missed each other as we went out of town, then they went out of town and of course they are preparing all the time to go somewhere they will be by themselves. There is one other family in the town they will live in that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are in the Embassy there.
So no one is preparing for them to live there. No one is getting ready for them. They will have to wing it as they go and figure it out for others who will hopefully come later. This is a predominately muslim country and I don't believe they can teach or proselyte. They are going to be of help to others - there are no other families from our church, so they will be serving people they will get to know.
Recommendation
We went to a Chinese restaurant that was very good! This was authentic food that was not frozen vegetables with a sauce poured over. It is called Sichuan House and is located in Countrywood in Walnut Creek. If you are around and like Chinese food, don't miss this restaurant.
What a fun time we had listening and sharing a love for missions. It was a delightful evening.
We made a date to go out again to dinner when they get back, so they can tell us all about their adventures. It is going to be good! Two years from now.
