Kelsi’s mom had left on Kelsi’s birthday on the 12th because all the ticket prices go up after that date. Interestingly their foster son came back that day too.
Perfect way to have your life constantly jerked around is by going down the rabbit hole of the foster care system.
Nate and Kelsi had long discussions, deep thought and prayer, then committed to adopting this young boy with emotional, financial, and physical things —- Then they were told there is an uncle and aunt he will be going to after they go through the application process (which takes months). After four years they find another relative? Maybe it is difficult to get a family history? Maybe they were in Australia or Zimbabwe?
I had a really fun time with all the kids on this trip! There were cookies to frost and traditions to uphold, and the peace and warmth of a great family.
They have this cool nightly ritual of lighting a candle and talking about the names of Christ |
Each child gets a turn to light and blow out the candles |
These are the gingerbread stables I brought to decorate |
This has been the gingerbread year for me. I brought the extra stables from my YW activity which the children all decorated. (Daniel asked the minute they were done, when they were going to get to eat them.) Then I made gingerbread so they could all decorate gingerbread men. They did not want icing, just regular frosting. I took two of the gingerbread men and iced them and put them on the tree. The rest were decorated and put on separate plates. Kelsi is very good at rationing out treats so no one has too big of a sugar high. They all had their plates to pick from when they got the opportunity.
