Night of Sewing

Baaba often comes over after work to sew up different outfits for people. Sometimes she comes to hem up pants or alter dresses for people going to the temple. She borrows my sewing machine as hers good one has gotten issues that no one seems able to fix.

I was happy to see that she is feeling just a little better. Last week she ended up going to the hospital. I heard that she had taken a trip to her hometown to see her family. I thought she would get a blessing from her dad, but when I asked she said she needed to make an appointment to get a blessing. I volunteered Jeffrey. So when she came over and Jeffrey came home from work, we ate and then he gave her a blessing of health and comfort.

Baaba is my children's age and I think of her a close as a daughter. Jeffrey said he can't think that way as she is a lovely woman, not his daughter.  After I came back from Charlotte, Jeffrey and I had a long discussion about having certain nights free so he and I could just share and talk and other evenings that are used in service of others. Both of us are aware that this apartment is a gift from the Lord and is a good place to share with others. I'm looking for balance of the needs of people like Baaba and Jeffrey who needs to regroup and be recharged to go to work.

So on Tuesday night when she left, I packed up my sewing machine in a thermal bag I found so she could sew early in the morning and the next night.

I do not recall ever seeing Baaba without carrying bags when she walks.....

One day as she and I were walking past the temple together, a lady called hello and then went on to tell her something and they exchanged a laughing conversation. Baaba translated later that the woman said Baaba was always weighed down with bags and Baaba had replied, "they all are full of money".
