Morning Walk

It was decided to take a walk around the Clover Creek Preserve. Jayson brought his bike and the rest of us walked. It was 81 degrees at 7:30 in the morning and just got hotter as we walked around the paved trail. The water is very low and doesn't even cover a third of the space allowed for water. But that water has green plants, ducks, and geese.

I discovered and interesting fact about a four year old who had older brothers. When Lilly got hot and too tired I mentioned that next time I would bring a stroller so she could ride and walk. She said no, she would bring her bike!
Another time when we were far behind, I asked her Opa to come back and carry her for a minute to rest. She only took a minute and then ran to be with her brothers. She has a very independent spirit and a competitiveness to be like her brothers.

Deciding which way to go on the trail

Almost completed the first circle

It was decided that Jayson and Opa would make another circuit of the reserve while Lilly, Caleb and I waited in the shade of a tree on a bench. It was good to have Jayson and Opa burn off energy while the rest of us conserved ours:)

We were happy to wait in the shade
Jayson came quite a bit earlier than his Opa did. He said he only waited once for his Opa to catch up because he needed a drink that Opa was carrying.
When Lilly saw her Opa come around the corner of the path, she ran all the way to him and gave him a big hug, so he carried her back and told me how happy that made him. Life is good.

It was a good morning walk. We were all interested in strawberries and Jayson knew just where to go to get them. So on the way home from the walk in the Preserve, we stopped and got a big box of strawberries. They were small but very flavorful and delicious!
