Jeffrey got a last minute call from the Stake President to be a Seminary teacher. Four or five students had an early morning period at the high school exactly when Seminary started, so they didn't have a class or teacher. Jeffrey teaches the 6 am class while the other classes begin at 7:15. This is the time Andrew teaches his new Seminary class.
Jeffrey told me about his reading about Elijah and what a remarkable man Elijah was. This week has all been about the life and times of Elijah the prophet. What I think is amazing and wonderful is the way Jeffrey uses other scriptures to fill out, explain and understand Elijah's life and what he was able to accomplish.
On Monday Jeffrey talked about the character of a man who could tell a king what God was going to do. He explained that the boldness came from his sterling life and used Helaman chapters to show what kind of man he had to have been.
1 Kings 17:1
How did Elijah obtain access to this power?
Helaman 7:10-13, 20-21 - 8:1, 7, 25-27 - 9:1, 3, 16-17, 19-22, 25-35 - 10:1-10
President Nelson in April of 2020 "We have front-row seats to witness live what the prophet Nephi saw only in vision, that "the power of the Lamb of God" would descend "upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory."
Are you seeing that power today?
On Tuesday and Wednesday Jeffrey went through the many stories about Elijah in 1 Kings 17, 18, and 19.
On his concluding day Thursday he went through these scriptures in explanation of the sealing power:
Helaman 10:7
Doctrine and Covenants 132:12-14 with a special emphasis that NOTHING will cross over after this world is done UNLESS it has been sealed with His authority. 132:7-12 - 128:1, 8-9 - 132:19 Doctrine and Covenants 2:1-3
He said we need men with Elijah's power today.
Jeffrey had a a parent who said he wishes he had known about the importance of the sealing power when he was young.
