Edinburgh

 Excursion One:

Susie and Allen (maybe other sibs) found a place to have a sacrament meeting. Steven had gotten permission to have the sacrament given. Short meeting that was powerful for me.

Though the room was reserved for two meetings, we often met in the “secret” board room for games, chats, and catch up throughout the week. This first day, Jeffrey and I went on a different excursion than most of the others who got together and made up their own excursion.

Note:

·      The traffic lights use yellow between the red and green and green and red.

·      Cars will park head-to-head on either side of the street.

·      Jeffrey and I met a man in a kilt on the way to his nephew’s wedding. When asked if I could take a picture, he took it with me.

·      Saw the doorway of Robert Lewis Stevenson’s house he grew up in and the park he played in as a kid.

·      Visited the Edinburgh castle and the chapel where Margaret had worshipped.

·      Saw the crown jewels, sword, and stone of the Kings.

·      Saw a reenactment of executioner.

·      Saw owls in the street just like Harry Potter’s – siblings saw three!

·      Saw a bag piper playing away.

·      Saw Robert Burns home.

·      The three-story apartment/houses had six chimneys at the end on the roof. How do the fireplaces line up?

·      Siblings saw Dave and Diann!

Take away:

We live better today than kings lived in the past – at least in the 12th century.

Questions:

How does a castle defend a country?

How did the citizens know when to come to the castle? (If that is their protection.)

How do you feed lots of people suddenly and where do they poop?

The ship did not dock, we came in by tender. Big and small tenders
