Erica made arrangements to come early on Thursday to decorate for a surprise birthday for her husband Joshua. Her daughter is now walking all over the place. It is amazing how quickly little babies grow up. When we had our first meeting, she could barely crawl and roll off her blanket. Now she is into everything she can reach. She is a tiny little girl.
Erica spent two or three hours setting up, blowing up balloons and twisting them into different sections. Sometimes her daughter walked around and sometimes she put her on her back and kept on working.
I ordered a light meal to arrive, but I did not know when it would be eaten as Erica and I had a Relief Society meeting that had been arranged to finish up the things the ward ladies were making.
Erica and her daughter went over to the meeting and Erica made some really nice things. She has an artistic eye. Joshua met them there without suspecting anything different would happen. Comfort had made a meal for everyone over at the meeting. So Erica and Joshua had waakye.
Erica, Comfort and I slipped over to the apartment while Erica told Joshua to pick her up here. He was talking with a friend. Erica put her baby into some cute clothes and perked up the balloons that had sunk - and we waited to surprise Joshua.
He was surprised! We had a little party and he cut his birthday cake. Joshua stayed at our home after his party while Erica finished up her Relief Society project and he told us his life story - very complicated and full of drama with parents who were split and married several times. He was tossed about as a young boy from house to house and often neglected. So it is nice that he got a birthday party.
Joshua is a good father. His daughter was exhausted and he got her to sleep |
After Erica came back, they took all the party goods home. It was hilarious to see all the backpacks Joshua wore plus his daughter and Erica was awash in balloons!
Helped earlier with the clean up! |

How did that all fit in the taxi? |
