16 May
I had a good day this week. It started out with pool exercise in which some of the other sisters came. Company is always nice while exercising.
Went shopping with Eugene, Dumevi and Sister Penner. Dumevi brought spring rolls and samosas for my freezer. Yes the day was going good.
I was working on a baby quilt for a friend I will see in Morocco next week. It is always good to accomplish some goals on projects.
Comfort came over and brought sobolo drinks for the Tuesday give-aways. Then she stayed to make some Jollof rice for Jeffrey and I. Now that makes a good day. I asked her if she was going to make Jollof rice for her family. She said she would make it at home.
I got a call from Sister Brown that she had money for the Ebony Nativity I had shown in Sister Scripture Study. That was very good (for Wisdom) and I was happy to be able to report to Wisdom that his carvings had sold. In fact she wants to order more things.
On my way back, I got a call from Martin and Zenock. They were hungry. I told them to come on over because Comfort was in the kitchen and she would be able to make something they would like. Then I quickly called Comfort while waiting for the boys at my gate. I told her about the two boys on their way so she could think of something to feed them.
We walked in and Bobby was cleaning (great day for that alone) and one of the boys knew him. Small world.
Comfort was looking around the kitchen and pantry and came up with Ramon noodles with spices and steamed vegetables added. I think she got some cooked chicken from the freezer for that too. I brought out cream crackers, the rest of my peanut butter (ground nut paste), some honey, and found a package of graham crackers. Comfort gave them some sobolo and I dropped off some water bottles.
The boys didn't touch anything so I figured they were waiting for the noodles to get done. I asked them about their future plans. Martin is going on a mission and Zennoch wants to go to a tech school for a job. Bertha came back from the temple and had some lunch too.
I was sewing and looked over and noticed the boys washing their dishes Nice. Then they asked for a "rubber" meaning a plastic sack. I tried to think of why they would bring their lunch home. Well, it was for the peanut butter, crackers, honey, and graham crackers. Interesting. They didn't eat it for a snack before lunch, but wanted to take it with them.
What I set out or offer is what is available. I was thinking of a stave-off-hunger snack and they were planning their next meal. (Later they showed me a picture of the crackers and such with another friend.)
When Comfort was going home, she packed up the raw rice and ingredients for Jollof rice. Ah, ok, I did ask if she was making Jollof for her family....she did say she would make it at home... And of course there was another sack or two of rice in the pantry - so that "plenty" principle in action.
Well it was a good day. Had fun with friends, helped a business, fed some hungry people, and got a clean home. It was a good day.
