Surprise!

A week or so ago, I hosted a shower for Esther the OGC legal coordinator. The shower was planned with Esther in advance and she had almost 10 friends from the office who were invited. Later I found that Esther mom and Grandma Esther in our ward had been very good friends when they were young. In fact our Esther had been named after Grandma Esther. I asked Esther in OGC if she wanted to invite her mom to come and visit with Grandma on the same day as her shower.

It was arranged that Eugene would take her mother over to Grandma's house that morning. I was a little concerned when my meal wasn't at my house, but they got here just before noon. The table filled and we had three extra missionaries who sat on the couch near the table. I learned that the leaves for the salad had been left at home, so the caterers said they would go to the market. I assumed they wouldn't make it back before the end of the ongoing party.

Esther's mom came and two other ladies showed up later. Places were made at the table and clean plates given out. Then four more ladies and their children arrived so we got out more plates. I had asked for Jollof rice and chicken for 10 - it fed over twenty people! I can't help wondering if this was a "loaves and fishes" principle or if extra was made in the first place. A good surprise.

Then we got to the gender reveal portion. Surprise! Its Twins. One is a girl and the other is hiding so we still don't know. Esther's cousin was very gracious and thanked us for letting them come to the AP apartments. (That has given me some room for thought.) It was a good day all around.
