The ladies jumped on the bus and went to the Matbronze Wildlife Art - gardens, museum, and restaurant to have lunch. Beautiful garden setting with gazebo's to shelter us from the rain (which did fall). We pulled a question from the bucket and each of us lead a discussion from those questions. Very nice thought prompting questions. How do you stay in touch with your children and relatives? How do you keep your marriage strong and healthy with the husband's stress of long hours and concentration? What do you do to add value and find purpose? There were about 14 really great questions that we all answered.
The cool breeze, the delicious meal, and the beauty of the gardens filled my soul. Then we stepped up into the museum part and I was blown away by the realistic and great work of Denis Matthews. Check it out here to find out more about his company and look at some of his pieces.
I had an immediate need to have his bronze elephant, some of the birds, a hippo, and two dragons. The prices were in US dollars - so I am assuming most customers come from America. But I only had one hundred dollar bill that wouldn't go very far. So I just wandered around enjoying his work.
We went up around the lion and down into the garden and sat under a large umbrella tent with open sides to have lunch. It was very nice. Here is the place I was told that the mosquitos at this higher elevation do not carry malaria......ummm.......really? I just kept taking my doxycycline anyway. I wonder if there is a myth buster somewhere in Africa?
Of course I had to go find out the answers. It depends on the weather as well as the altitude. It is usually colder at the higher altitudes and evidently the parasite that breeds malaria does not do well in the cold. If you have hot temperatures at a high altitude you will find malaria. But if it is cold at the high altitude you will not. The only way you can get a malaria filled mosquito at a high altitude is by hot winds blowing them up. Interesting. If you want to do your own looking into this question, you can click here. Interesting.
OK, back to our ladies trip....I walked into the museum and loved it all!
