Saturday Shenanigans

Although conference was on the TV in Andrew's house for each session, there was a lot of coming and going and things happening while it was on. I think I heard one or two talks all the way through - but like I said, they are better heard when I'm all by myself.

I had a series of things to accomplish, one was getting everything out of my suitcase to give to my family and friends, and one was to pick up all the things that were needed to bring back.

So after the first session, we went to JoAnn's to pick up some things that Baaba had asked for me to bring back. Evidently her machine needed a light bulb and some notions. I found a ruffler which she did want. But it was after I called her that we went back again to get exactly what she wanted. Back and forth in the car with Rachel and Rebekah.

Baaba had sent some more skirts and dresses with the Kaku's when they came. I wasn't sure where they staying and I did not have a car. Becka and Rachel decided to drive me out to the address that afternoon. It was almost at the end of conference session (when we found President Nelson was not speaking) and took off for somewhere in South Jordon. An hour and a half of travel took us near the foot of the Kennecott Copper mines to find that the Kaku's daughter wasn't there.

I had a fun time talking to her through her doorbell. Technology is such a great thing! She said she'd be home in half an hour, so we went to get dinner from a sandwich shop. A good sandwich and some soup and life was good again. When we went back her husband told me on her door bell again that "something came up" and she wouldn't be there but he would come in another 45 minutes.

I decided to figure it all out another day. But after we had gone 15 minutes, her husband called and said he'd be at the house soon - so we traveled back to their home - to find him not there! As I walked down the sidewalk texting him, I found he had just arrived in the garage. We finally got the package that was from Baaba. We also found out that the package for her sister was to go to Rexburg instead of Provo which I had assumed. Enos (Kaku's son in law) kept that package to send with someone going up to Idaho and we drove another two hours in traffic to get home.

I was told Baaba was going to send some more dresses with someone the next Monday......No! Who knows where they would live.

I watched the beautiful sunset as Becka drove us home and thought about the suitcase express as it is the only means sometimes of getting things to and from the US and Africa. There has to be a better way to collect things........Next time I do not want to take five hours to collect or drop anything off. I'll have to do a better job of nailing down a central location of leaving things in a place that someone can come pick up.
