Trip to Twin Falls in April

The last day of March and the first week in April, Jeffrey and I headed up to Idaho and Utah again. This will be one of the last of the "free" flights we get from our points on the Southwest credit card that we earned while we were in Africa. I have really enjoyed traveling to Utah every three or more months, since we have gotten back Ghana.

From the Salt Lake City airport, we had scheduled to pick up Rachel in Ogden on our way to Idaho from the Frontrunner, a train that travels from Provo through Salt Lake to Ogden. I am not sure if it goes further North as all my kin are in Ogden and then Idaho. Rachel calls and asks us to pick her up in Salt Lake City as the train stopped there and no trains are going further North because of a blockage. So I fretted a little about her standing around in the cold weather while we wait for our baggage at the carousel. She was cold when we picked her up on 6th North, then headed up to Twin Falls.

Snow was falling!!! Large amounts of snow in April. Ogden foothills had 8 inches. Susie told us the weather was bad and the snow was scheduled to stop around noon. She told us we could hang out at her place until the weather got better. As we drove, Jeffrey determined that he could handle the snow on the freeway as we all watched the snow plows that regularly came along. The traffic was a little slow but otherwise it was safe to drive, so we continued on to Twin Falls. Shortly after the mountains on the border between Utah and Idaho, the snow stopped. I sent a text to Susie when we arrived so she wouldn't worry about us broken down on the side of the road.

We had a really good time at Beka's house. Michael is an exceptional host along with Rebekah. There was a pot roast and vegetables slow cooking when we arrived. We did so many fun things like walk along the canyon, sit to watch the falls, discover the ground squirrels of Idaho, use their virtual playstation to tour Scotland and play games. We also went to a museum and watched a cool planetarium show about black holes and the look at the history of this area. I liked how the Indians made a living catching salmon and hunting other animals - including far back different kinds of mammoth. We went out to eat at a fabulous restaurant on the rim of the canyon, and started a 2000 piece puzzle. It was a really fun fantastic trip for three days.
