Safari one

We arrived at the camp, checked in, listened to the rules, unpacked our bags, had a beautiful tasteful lunch, some of the ladies tried out the cold pool for water exercises and then we set off for our first safari! Six safari trips had been planned ahead of time. Off we went with Joab telling us "there are no guarantees" to see any animals. Besides the beautiful birds, and Cape Buffalo in the distance, the first thing we ran into was a couple of hippos in the river and then - wow - we ran into a pride of lions!

Luxury tent accommodations

Intrepid swim buddies
Water Horse, Hippopotamus

We started seeing them singly, scattered here and there....

Then we saw the main part of the pride. We were close enough to hear the rip of the hide coming off.
We could also hear the growls, grunts, and threats they issued to each other.

This Jackal was running along side on another truck track looking for a morsel left by the lions.
