Charlotte and William Acquah

I was at the temple on a Wednesday and saw a grey-going white haired woman with the name tag Acquah and just had a feeling it was Baaba's mom. I ran to a session and was distracted for the rest of the shift.

When Baaba and her mom and dad came over it was the same lady! The mashed potatoes were made especially for Baaba's mom because Baaba told me she liked them.

Jeffrey and I had a very enjoyable evening listening to their stories of the early days of the church in Ghana. Brother Johnson had stayed with Charlotte when she was a little girl. She remembered that other churches would send people to ask him to lead their churches. Some even offered him money. Brother Johnson had such a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon that he always told them he was waiting for the true church, the mother church to listen to his pleas.

We heard some heart-warming stories and sad stories. William was thrown in jail for a night because he came to another man's rescue during the "freeze" of church activity when the other member was picked up by the police. They couldn't find anything they were doing wrong, so they let them all go. William said that they had already practiced home centered church as that is the only thing they could do during the almost two years of the "freeze". They could not congregate or preach to anyone.

They have a warm, peaceful spirit about them both and it was a privilege to have them in our home. I hope we can meet again.
