Sister Hales to the rescue

When I started to walk into Primary on Sunday the 16th, a little girl met me at the door and told me her hand was probably broken. I was a little dismayed as it was not in a sling and looked like she had not had any first aid care. Her hand was very swollen and her arm a little too.

I ran back to my apartment to find any first aid materials I had. No ace bandages or slings. So I picked up one of the first aid kits and some loose material and went back to church.

I found Sister Hales in Sunday School and had her neighbors nudge each other until they reached Sister Hales in the middle of the row and discreetly held up the first aid kit. When I saw her coming, I went down the aisle until I was in the foyer.

I told her the problem while walking to meet the little girl and her sister (if it was her mom, she is very young). Sister Hales was really great in asking questions, manipulating fingers and her arm, and checking different places where a break could be.

She felt that the girl had badly sprained her hand instead of breaking it. I had different materials and some gauze. but no sling. Sister Hales fashioned a sling out of the gauze as it was light-weight. I handed her sister another roll - just in case.

I found out the little girl was getting baptized in about an hour. Wow, welcome to the ward. The next Sunday, she came running up to show me that her hand was just fine!
