The Ultimate Puddle Jumping

Tuesday had some beautiful skies with the sun popping out at different times. The children really wanted to go play outside. All the adults knew what kind of mud, water, and cold would happen. Nate decided to bring them to the Clover Creek Preserve that has a paved path all around the reservoir. Later he said he imagined that the kids would enjoy the outdoors and not get cold and wet......ah, yeah, this is the boy who seem to "slip" into the water when his dad and I took he and his brothers anywhere near water.

Starting out for the first 50 yards, the plan worked beautifully.

But the lure of the side puddles soon turned into full scale puddle jumping!

But of course this is a preserve and it has been raining and raining so the "puddles" are quite big.

Why walk on the path with a perfectly good puddle to test out the boots on?

There comes a time when the boots carry water instead of repelling water.......

the boots were all emptied out and socks were squeezed out and put back on

But there were still a few puddles that needed testing.....

Nate had to draw the line at bringing extra water into the car....

Though everyone's feet were cold and hurt a little, mud was on all the children's clothes, and most of them were wet up to their armpits, everyone had a great time!
