The night before

Jeffrey gave a powerful lesson yesterday. He had six titles with scriptures underneath one on side of the whiteboard and Names with definitions the other side of the board. Then he asked for four volunteers to read and designated them as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. When it was their time to read they went straight in to the scripture. Every once in awhile Jeffrey would stop them for a bit and make a point.

It was so clear that there was a group conspiracy to kill Jesus Christ and the horrific acts all came after His agony in the garden.

I really appreciated knowing the players and the order Jeffrey set the scriptures in as it made the story much more clear than reading through each Testament book. I am going to have to go over this again so I understand it all better.

It is clear that it was way early in the morning that the High Priest and "Elders" or Sanhedrin Leaders met at a private home - old High Priest Annus - probably to avoid any sympathetic crowds - and tried to find any cause to put Jesus Christ to death. Evidently being the Son of God was what they hung their hat on. Then they took Christ to the present High Priest in counsel with Caiaphas, and then took Him before Pilate who tried to punt the ball to Herod, back to Pilate who couldn't find any fault but gave in to the entreaties of the group - they used the word king and indicated sedition in a political sense. Son of God became King. Pilate, in a last ditch effort to appeal compassion had him scourged, crown of thorns, and humiliated. No compassion for any agony suffered, just the cry for crucifixion, so Jesus Christ was led away suffering the will of the leaders. Two weeks from now should be a joyful Sunday when Jeffrey talks about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
