Watching Rachel Create

A New Idea and Creative Process

Rachel laying out her material, measuring and cutting it for her quilt

The different fabrics and different sizes for her quilt

This afternoon we put tape on the floor of the size of Rachel's proposed quilt. She then cut out fabric rectangles and squares to fill in the "quilt".  Switching fabric pieces and figuring what looks good together and what it should look like. Some pieces are developing as she goes... Then she put a little tape on the connecting pieces so she can pick them up and they will stray in order of the proposed quilt.

Took a break

Rachel and I took a walk around the block and neighborhood, then came back and baked up the leftover gingerbread dough from earlier in the week. I don't think it held up well. It was very dry and did not blend together. But it was okay because it smells good. On our walk we smelled so many delicious odors of Christmas dinners cooking!

Back to the Quilt Project

Now she is deciding the stitches to embroider while listening to Christmas music. Measuring where the embroidery will go. She had to set up a light to see to sew by as our light is so dim.
